Makeup of the Day | Purple, Purple, Purple, the Color of the Year

It’s no secret that my favorite color is purple. It’s the color of royalty and also, Sephora has name orchid the color of the year. I couldn’t be more thrilled!

I’ve been wanting to do a fully purple look for a while. Here’s my look:

It may be a bit over the top for most people, but I absolutely love it. I’d probably wear this look at night instead of during the day.

Battle of the Brands | NARS vs. Sephora for Highlighter

It’s not easy to find a great highlighter/luminizer. I’ve given up on finding them at the drugstore, but I’ve been on a journey to find one that isn’t $29 like my current favorite (and everyone else’s), NARS Albatross.

Sephora has a baked luminizer in two shades (Star Dust and Light Beam) for just $12 each. I decided to put them up against NARS Albatross in my very first Battle of the Brands.

Dupe or bust? Watch to find out:

Have you tried the Sephora baked luminizers? What did you think?

Makeup of the Day | Tarte of Giving

Tarte eyeshadows have become a staple to my daytime looks.

The Tarte of Giving gift set came with a palette full of soft, subtle and very blendable shades. They easily can be worn from day to night by layering on the darker shades.

Here’s my makeup look of the day:

What I Got For Christmas 2013

Whew! I can’t believe Christmas has come and gone. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas if you celebrate.

I don’t usually get many gifts for christmas aside from money and gift cards, but this year I got a few really neat (and practical!) things.

Check out everything I got here:

FIRST IMPRESSIONS | Urban Decay Vice 2 Palette

Urban Decay’s Vice2 Palette… all I can really say is HOLY PIGMENT! This was my first Urban Decay palette and honestly, I never understood what the hype was about until I swatched it.

Check out my first impression / swatches here:

Overall, the plastic packaging looks somewhat tacky but it is definitely sturdy and could withstand travel. The eye shadow colors themselves are incredibly pigmented and varied enough that you could wear this palette from day to night.

Here are two looks I’ve worn recently using only the Vice 2 Palette.

Even though the palette is a bit pricey, you get 20 eyeshadows so it comes out to about $3 each. Not bad. Overall I’d definitely recommend this palette if you aren’t afraid to go beyond neutrals.

Do you have the Vice 2 palette? What did you think of it?
